Now in its fifteenth year, this inclusive event is a beautiful Half Marathon around London’s iconic landmarks and four of the eight Royal Parks. The 13.1 mile route takes place on closed roads and this year includes a food & fitness festival for family and friends to enjoy.
The Route
Starting and finishing in Hyde Park, you’ll pass landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, the London Eye, Canada House and Buckingham Palace and also take in The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.
Running for Certitude means you are raising life-changing funds for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health support needs across London.
Every penny you raise goes directly to the people we support and is used for activities such accessible music sessions, digital art workshops or assistive technology.
Run with Certitude and you’ll receive:
- Welcome call and pack with fundraising help and materials
- Free running T-shirt or vest to represent us on the day
- Support from our dedicated fundraising team to help you smash your fundraising target
What you’ll get from the event organisers (RBC)
- a premium race pack prior to race day with your race bib
- a sustainable water bottle
- a medal
We will set up a JustGiving page and you can then send the link to all of your family and friends to get some donations. Our Fundraising team will be able to help and guide you with reaching your fundraising target.
How fit do I need to be?
The Royal Parks half marathon is challenging but achievable. In order to maximise your enjoyment, you do need to train and brush off your running shoes and do small incremental runs in the build up to 13 miles!
What kit do I need to bring?
We recommend you have comfortable running shoes and plasters! Certitude will provide you with a running top. You might wish to bring a light jumper as the run takes place in October and it can be chilly!
Is there an age restriction?
You will need to be 16 or over, but there is no upper age limit. However, whatever your age, you will need to make sure you are fit enough to take part. If you are in any doubt, please check with your doctor.
How long is the route?
The route is 13.1 miles!
Is the route the same as last year?
The course will continue to showcase iconic London through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park, and The Green Park) and past some of the capital’s most historic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade and the Royal Albert Hall. Although undulating in parts, the course is not hilly and is great for either experienced or first time half marathon runners. The race begins and ends in London’s famous Hyde Park.
Can I power walk the race?
This event is a road race designed for runners, not walkers. This is because we are only able to close the roads in Westminster, outside the Parks, for a limited time. They will open to traffic 2.5 hours after the start of the race, after which time participants who have not yet passed this point (6 miles in) will be asked to move on to the pavements, use pedestrian crossing points and then re-join the race route within Hyde Park.
