On this iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride, leave the buzz of the city behind and join thousands of fellow cyclists as you face the challenge of a 54-mile journey on two wheels, from the heart of London to the buzzing Brighton seafront!
The Route
Once out of London you will predominantly cycle along quiet lanes passing through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before taking on the challenge that is Ditchling Beacon – a mile long climb to the top of the South Downs where you will be rewarded with amazing views and a water break! From there it’s downhill for the last few miles onto Brighton sea front!
Cycling for Certitude means you are raising life-changing funds for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health support needs across London.
Every penny you raise goes directly to the people we support and is used for activities such accessible music sessions, digital art workshops or assistive technology.
Cycle with Certitude and you’ll receive:
- Welcome call and pack with fundraising help and materials
- Free cycling top to represent us on the day
- Support from our dedicated fundraising team to help you smash your fundraising target
What you’ll get from the event organisers (Skyline):
- A Race number and ‘on the day’ information, sent closer to your event date.
- Water stops along the route.
- Full mechanical support
- Fully signposted route
- Not to forget your official “London to Brighton Cycle Ride” Medal on completion!

How fit do I need to be?
The London to Brighton cycle ride is challenging but achievable. To maximise your enjoyment, you do need to train and get out on your bike before the ride! Training plans will be provided.
What kit do I need to bring?
We recommend you have a well-serviced bike – it doesn’t need to be carbon–framed or anything special but it should be comfortable and well maintained. As well as your bike it is essential you have a helmet. It’s up to you whether you carry a bag with you, but we recommend this is fixed to your bike (search for ‘bike panniers’ online) rather than worn on your back which can become very tiring.
Is there an age restriction?
You will need to be 16 or over but there is no upper age limit. However, all participants of whatever age should ensure they are fit enough to take part in the event. If you are in any doubt, please check with your doctor.
Is transport provided back to London at the end of the ride?
Transport for both yourself (by coach) and your bike (bubble wrapped in a van) is optionally available for £35. You will be able to book this after you have registered your place for the ride.
What mechanical support will there be?
There will be four stationary mechanic points (at the start, at the morning and afternoon water points, and at lunch) but if you’re unlucky enough to experience difficulties in between those points, Skyline will also have roaming mechanics– just give them a call!
How do I get my cycling jersey?
The Fundraising team will send this out 4 weeks before the event so you can get some nice pictures to spur on those donations!
I'm interested!
