Connected communities

London is a vibrant and exciting city. With so much going on, we focus on making the most of the opportunities the capital has to offer.

Certitude Community Choirs

We are very proud of our three Community Choirs based in Brixton, Ealing and Bromley. Each choir is led by an experienced choirmaster and the weekly rehearsals are open to anyone from the local community, as well as people we support and their families, friends and carers. The practice sessions are fun and a great way to meet new people and get out for the evening. The choirs regularly perform at local community and Certitude events.

Treat Me Right!

Co-produced with people with learning disabilities, Treat me Right! works to ensure people with learning disabilities have equal access to healthcare and are treated respectfully by clinicians and healthcare professionals. People with learning disabilities are frequently denied equal healthcare – they generally receive fewer health screenings (despite the fact they are more likely to experience poorer health) and are often treated by health professionals who do not understand learning disabilities. People take a leading role in deciding what needs to be done, developing resources and delivering learning disability awareness training.

You can also view our Treat me Right! downloadable tools for useful information and advice.

Community Development

We have developed strong relationships with highly regarded organisations such as Tate, The Young Vic and The Brit School to co-produce innovative, exciting and engaging activities and courses for people with learning disabilities. People usually work towards producing a final exhibition, performance or celebration. We also run regular activities and sessions from places like the Connect & Do Space at Railton Road in Brixton. These have included life drawing sessions, art groups and portrait photography, as well as gallery visits hosted by Andy Kee, an artist with learning disabilities.

Connect & Do

Our Connect & Do Space at Railton Road in Brixton offers a number of activities throughout the week which bring people together around shared interests, building positive new relationships. Activities such as running groups, coffee mornings, knitting groups, yoga and mosaic making are popular and we welcome people across London to come and join us.

You can contact the Connect & Do Space on 020 7737 2888 or drop in and see us at 109 Railton Road, London, SE24 0LR.

The service is run by Peer Supporters who have their own experience of facing and overcoming crisis. Their award-winning work exemplifies the project’s underlying ethos; that it is possible to approach a mental health crisis in a holistic and person-centred way.
