Thank you for your interest in the position of Chair of the Board for Certitude.
Certitude is at a very exciting stage of its development, having grown over the past 30 years to become a highly respected provider of a range of person-centred services for adults with learning disabilities, autism or mental health needs. As London’s largest not for profit provider in its field quality sits at the heart of our mission.
We are proud of the quality of our support – evidenced by feedback from the people we help, families, commissioners, and our regulator the Care Quality Commission. Against a backdrop of significant public finance challenges the organisation has continued to develop and innovate, growing through merger as well as the award of a range of new contracts by local authorities and NHS commissioners.
With a budgeted turnover of circa £50M, and a team in the region of 1500 colleagues, supporting over 1800 people we are excited and optimistic for the future.
We are seeking a new Chair of the Board following the unexpected and sad passing of the previous Chair who was reaching the end of her tenure. Eleri Ebenezer chaired the organisation through a period of significant growth and change.
We are now looking for a new Chair to lead our committed and diverse Board to deliver our ambitious mission. We are seeking a values-driven leader with a passion and commitment to apply your leadership skills and knowledge to support the Board and Leadership Team to drive the organisation forward.
Certitude is a successful and ambitious organisation committed to harnessing the talents and strengths of people to deliver on our mission. We have an exciting and challenging agenda ahead as we finalise our next bold organisational strategy. You will be a natural collaborator able to form effective relationships with a wide range of different people at all levels, a great listener with a proven ability to drive a progressive agenda.
A person of integrity, you will help us continue to build a positive and empowering culture, able to work as part of a team and exercise objectivity and impartiality. We are proud of our diversity and seek a Chair who shares our ambition to go further, leading and championing our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy as we create an environment where everyone can thrive. The health and wellbeing of people we support, and our highly committed colleagues is a key focus given the ongoing impact of the pandemic. While direct experience in the Social Care sector, or Voluntary Sector is not essential, a proven track record of successful strategic leadership, inclusive chairing skills and an understanding and empathy to our mission and values is essential.
Certitude remains in a very strong position to meet the challenges and opportunities of the post pandemic world. We are looking for someone that is passionate about the work Certitude does and has the right mix of skills and attributes to lead our Board and Leadership Team to deliver the next stage of our journey.
We are enthusiastic about working with and supporting the appointed person to maximise the great potential of Certitude. We hope you find this appointment brief informative, and that you are inspired to apply. We look forward to meeting you.
